Using cost effective technology, CTA has developed a process that can serve both low end technology emergency communication centers and those with sophisticated addressing systems.  The CTA Railroad – 911 Communication Inter-Operability Process results in products that are “hard copy” and computerized. This means that even when the power goes out, the phone lines are cut and the satellite reception dwindles, rail and 911 emergency dispatchers can coordinate their efforts from integrated maps familiar to each.
